Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) reported a 57% year-on-year surge in net profit to ₹15,488.64 crore in Q2 FY27, driven by elevated oil and gas prices.
ONGC's Q2 FY27 net profit rose to ₹15,488.64 crore, up from ₹9,847.97 crore in the same period a year earlier. Revenue from operations hit ₹43,875.15 crore, compared to ₹33,030.56 crore a year prior. First-half net profit for FY27 reached ₹32,522.45 crore, nearly double the ₹17,872.20 crore in the same period of FY26. The company’s first-half net profit matched the full-year profit of ₹32,894.02 crore from FY26. The profit growth underscores the impact of higher oil and gas realisations on ONGC’s financials, with elevated commodity prices boosting margins. The results signal stronger earnings potential amid favorable market conditions, though reliance on volatile energy prices introduces risk. Direct beneficiaries include ONGC shareholders and the Indian government, which holds a major stake. Competitors in the energy sector may face margin pressure from ONGC’s improved performance.
ONGC’s profit surge highlights its ability to capitalize on rising oil prices, but sustained gains depend on continued market strength.
