Multi Commodity Exchange of India (MCX) reported a 130% year-on-year jump in net profit to Rs 454.57 crore in Q2 FY27, driven by soaring revenue and EBITDA, with shares hitting a 52-week high.

MCX Q2 Profit Surges 130% to Rs 455 Crore, Shares Hit 52-Week High

MCX's Q2 FY27 results show a 130% YoY surge in consolidated net profit to Rs 454.57 crore, compared to Rs 197.47 crore in Q2 FY26. Revenue from operations rose 114% to Rs 799.66 crore, while EBITDA jumped 151% to Rs 611.24 crore. Total expenses increased 40.5% YoY to Rs 211.36 crore, according to ET Markets. The exchange's shares closed 7.81% higher at Rs 3,493 on the BSE, reaching a 52-week high of Rs 3,537. MCX's market cap stood at Rs 89,068 crore as of 3 November 2026. Standalone net profit after tax (PAT) rose 159% to Rs 405.35 crore, while standalone revenue grew 118% to Rs 765.61 crore.

The sharp 151% EBITDA increase to Rs 611.24 crore highlights improved operational efficiency, with EBITDA margins rising to 76.4% from 65.1% YoY. However, the 40.5% YoY spike in total expenses raises concerns about cost management. MCX's 52-week high and 59% return in 2026 signal strong investor confidence, potentially attracting further capital inflows. The exchange's performance may also influence broader market sentiment in India's commodity trading sector.

Investors and stakeholders benefit from the robust financial results, which could enhance MCX's market positioning. The exchange's partners and regulators may gain from improved operational efficiency and expanded EBITDA margins. However, sustaining profitability amid rising costs will be critical for long-term growth. The results underscore MCX's resilience but highlight the need for disciplined expense control.

The 130% net profit growth and 114% revenue surge reflect MCX's strong financial turnaround. Yet, the 40.5% YoY rise in total expenses poses a key risk. The exchange must balance revenue expansion with cost optimization to maintain its competitive edge. Investors will closely monitor whether these gains can be sustained in the face of rising operational costs.

MCX's Q2 results mark a financial turnaround, but cost management will determine long-term success.
