Jindal Steel Q2 Profit Rises 21% on Record Rs 19,448 Crore Revenue

Jindal Steel's Q2 FY26 results show robust growth, with revenue hitting a record Rs 19,448 crore, up 44% from the same period last year. Profit rose 21% to Rs 771 crore, supported by higher steel production and sales. Adjusted EBITDA grew 33% to Rs 2,504 crore, while net debt fell sequentially to Rs 14,786 crore from Rs 15,927 crore. The company's shift toward selling more flat products and fewer thermo-mechanically treated rebars boosted average selling prices. Consolidated steel production reached 2.4 million tonnes, up from 2 million tonnes a year ago, with sales rising to 2.38 million tonnes from 1.87 million tonnes. Adjusted EBITDA per tonne of steel reached Rs 10,529, up from Rs 10,010. Capital expenditure totaled Rs 1,228 crore during the quarter.

The results highlight Jindal Steel's pricing power and operational efficiency, with improved EBITDA margins and production efficiency positioning it for future growth. However, the 1.7% decline in its share price despite strong financials suggests market skepticism about sustaining these gains. Creditors benefit from reduced net debt, while the Indian steel industry faces competitive pressure as Jindal's performance sets a benchmark for profitability. Steel producers and suppliers may see increased demand for raw materials due to higher production volumes.

The company's strategic focus on higher-margin flat products could enhance long-term profitability, but the share price decline raises questions about investor confidence in its ability to maintain growth. Jindal Steel's improved financial metrics and operational performance underscore its resilience in a competitive market, though uncertainties around demand sustainability and market sentiment remain.

Investors and creditors are key stakeholders, with the latter benefiting from reduced net debt. The Indian steel industry, however, must navigate competitive pressures as Jindal's results set a new standard for profitability. The company's ability to sustain its growth trajectory will depend on maintaining pricing power and managing debt levels effectively.

Jindal Steel's Q2 results show strong revenue and profit growth, but the share price decline highlights investor doubts about sustaining these gains. The company's improved EBITDA margins and production efficiency position it well for future growth, though uncertainties around demand and market sentiment persist.
