Hero MotoCorp reported a 41% year-on-year surge in profit after tax to Rs 1,861 crore in Q2 FY27, driven by strong scooter sales and international expansion, according to ET Markets. Revenue rose 23% to Rs 14,971 crore, reflecting robust growth in its diversified product portfolio.
Hero MotoCorp’s Q2 FY27 results showed consolidated profit after tax (PAT) jumping 41% YoY to Rs 1,861 crore, compared to Rs 1,309 crore in Q2 FY26. Revenue climbed 23% to Rs 14,971 crore, with standalone revenue from operations up 21% to Rs 14,687 crore. EBITDA rose 8% YoY to Rs 1,968 crore, maintaining a stable 13.4% margin. Scooter volumes surged 47% YoY to 2.40 lakh units, while VIDA electric scooter sales grew 76% to 66,531 units. The company expanded to 54 international markets, including Germany and Nepal, during the quarter.
The results highlight Hero MotoCorp’s strategic shift toward electric mobility and global markets, with a 13% volume mix of internal combustion engine (ICE) and electric scooters. The 100cc motorcycle segment saw 5% YoY growth, driven by Splendor portfolio expansion. The company also approved a Rs 300 crore investment in HMCL Netherlands B.V. for subsidiary expansions.
The growth underscores Hero MotoCorp’s resilience amid market challenges, but risks include commodity cost pressures and regulatory hurdles in international markets. Opportunities lie in scaling VIDA electric scooters and expanding the Harley-Davidson business, which grew 30% sequentially. The company’s focus on innovation and global reach positions it to capture premium segments.
Stakeholders such as investors, customers, and competitors like Harley-Davidson partners face intensified competition. Suppliers and regulators may see increased innovation and market share shifts as Hero MotoCorp solidifies its position in both domestic and international markets.
Hero MotoCorp plans to launch the VIDA VX2 Plus and VX2 Go models, expand its Harley-Davidson retail network with globally sourced CBU models, and invest Rs 3,200 crore in Andhra Pradesh. The company will also fund subsidiary expansions through the Rs 300 crore investment in HMCL Netherlands B.V.
Hero MotoCorp’s Q2 results reflect strong growth from product diversification and international expansion, but the sustainability of this momentum amid commodity costs and global market dynamics remains uncertain.
