Dalmia Bharat, India's fourth-largest cement producer, reported a Rs 205 crore loss in Q2 2026, driven by a Rs 339 crore exceptional hit from asset impairment and employee separation costs, according to ET Markets.
The loss came despite a 3% year-on-year rise in sales volume to 7.1 million tonnes and a 4% increase in consolidated revenue to Rs 3,563 crore. However, EBITDA plummeted 29% to Rs 493 crore, hit by a 22% surge in power and fuel costs to Rs 874 crore. The company also declared an interim dividend of Rs 4 per share. ET Markets noted the exceptional charges and rising input costs threaten profitability, with EBITDA per tonne falling 31% to Rs 698. Net sales realisation rose 1% to Rs 5,042 per tonne, but total expenses jumped 13% to Rs 3,563 crore. Shares closed 2.1% higher at Rs 1,628.80 on the BSE.
Dalmia Bharat plans to focus on cost optimization and monitor cement price trends following the interim dividend declaration.
The Q2 loss highlights Dalmia Bharat's struggle with exceptional charges and rising costs, though the interim dividend signals short-term financial stability. The success of cost-cutting measures remains uncertain.
