Bitcoin traded near $80,000 ($79,486) and Ethereum held close to $2,500 ($2,495) on Monday as the crypto market absorbed shifting U.S. rate hike expectations following strong labor data. Analysts noted institutional demand and spot ETF inflows helped stabilize sentiment despite macroeconomic pressures, with key price levels near $81,800 and $78,000 ahead of the Fed’s September 16 decision.

Bitcoin and Ethereum prices remained near $80,000 and $2,500, respectively, as the crypto market digested evolving U.S. rate expectations. Bitcoin fell 0.61% in 24 hours to $79,486, while Ethereum dropped 0.25% to $2,495. Global crypto market capitalization edged down 0.33% to $2.7 trillion, though the fear and greed index rose to 71, signaling a bullish sentiment. Spot ETF inflows totaled over $986 million weekly, according to Mudrex, underscoring continued institutional interest despite macroeconomic headwinds.

Analysts highlighted the market’s consolidation near key levels, with Bitcoin’s volatility recovering to 39 from the mid-30s. Pi42’s Avinash Shekhar noted a 23% rally for Bitcoin over the past month, driven by improving regulatory sentiment and liquidity conditions. However, rising bond yields and stronger U.S. jobs data cast a shadow, with Nischal Shetty of WazirX warning of near-term pressure as higher yields make risk assets less attractive.

Retail participation softened, while short-term speculative capital and leverage increased, according to Giottus’ Vikram Subburaj. Delta Exchange’s Riya Sehgal emphasized that ETF inflows contrast with tighter policy expectations, reflecting a tug-of-war between macroeconomic uncertainty and crypto demand. Meanwhile, altcoins showed mixed performance, with BNB, XRP, and Solana declining up to 1.72%, while Tron and Cardano rose 0.83%.

The Fed’s September 16 rate decision will be a critical catalyst, with Bitcoin facing a potential retest of previous highs if the consolidation phase breaks. Key price levels at $81,800 (resistance) and $78,000 (support) will determine whether the recent rebound evolves into a stronger trend.

Bitcoin and Ethereum prices remain near $80,000 and $2,500 as the market balances shifting U.S. rate expectations with ETF inflows and institutional interest. The Fed’s September 16 decision will shape short-term direction, with risks of volatility and opportunities for growth depending on regulatory and macroeconomic developments.
